Green Beer Day!!

WHAT IS IT?

For those reading this that have no idea what or when green beer day is, I am here to let you know! Green Beer Day is celebrated on the Wednesday before Spring Break and was started in Oxford, OH at Miami University… If you know that I go to Ohio University, then you know that OU and Miami are rivals. lol.

Nonetheless, we follow the same tradition of drinking GREEN beer that day to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Don’t think it is just the consumption of green beer, you have to go all out in your green attire as well (obviously).

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE IN ATHENS!

Typically on this day, you can see just about everyone out on Court Street. Green beads, clothes, hats, makeup, BEER, the whole nine. When the weather is nice most people are at a bar that has outdoor seating. Those options being Broney’s, Courtside, North End, and Stephens (just to name a few).

The only downside to this whole thing is I really don’t like beer. However, I will drink 1 or 2 in the spirit of the holiday. This year, it falls on a day where I have one class and a couple meetings in the early part of the day; leaving me with plenty of time for green beer drinking! My roommates, a few friends, and I are going to enjoying ourselves (hopefully outside if the weather allows it, fingers crossed) and possibly watching a sports game and eating a snack (again, hopefully)!

My predictions for this Green Beer Day consist of great weather and my roommates and I going to our favorite bars: Pigskin, Stephens, and The CI. You might now be celebrating this holiday, but nonetheless, I hope everyone has a great (and green) May 6th!
